Most chimney work gets done with a flashlight and a handshake. We put a camera in the flue, write down what it shows, and hand the customer a photo record before we leave. Emberly Chimney Cleaners has been running that way since 2009. Who We’re Looking For
- Chimney Sweep Technician – The person who runs the camera, reads what it shows, explains it plainly to a homeowner, and leaves a documented record. Calm under a dirty flue, honest about what they found.
- Apprentice / Entry-Level Sweep – Someone who wants to learn the trade correctly from the beginning, can follow a system without cutting corners, and is not afraid of confined spaces or a full day on their feet.
- Chimney Repair and Masonry Installer – Skilled with mortar, comfortable on ladders, and precise enough to match existing work. If you can look at a cracked crown and tell a homeowner exactly what caused it, you’ll fit here.
- Liner and Rebuild Specialist – Experience with flexible liner systems, rigid liner, or HeatShield ceramic repair – or a masonry background and the willingness to learn the liner side of the trade properly.
- Dispatcher / Scheduling Coordinator – Organised, direct, and good at keeping multiple moving parts honest. You are the reason a tech shows up in the right window and the customer got a text on the way.
- Customer Service Representative – Able to answer a question about a written estimate without hedging, explain what a Level 2 inspection actually is, and know when to hand the call to someone in the field. Phones here are answered live – that is a commitment, and we need people who take it seriously.

Apprentices work alongside experienced lead technicians, learning the camera-scan process, the documentation system, and the Haven Standard from the ground up. If you’ve spent years in HVAC, plumbing, roofing, masonry, or any trade where you worked inside houses and had to explain what you found to the person who owns it – a good portion of this job already makes sense to you. Confined space work, reading a system for what’s actually wrong rather than what’s easy to fix, leaving a space cleaner than you found it: those instincts transfer.
What we teach is the camera-scan process, the Haven documentation system, the materials and why they’re specified the way they are, and the NFPA 211 inspection levels that the job title is named after. The first months are structured: you’re paired with a lead tech, you observe before you run a job solo, and your questions get real answers. We don’t expect you to already know what a terra cotta tile failure looks like. We expect you to want to learn how to find it.
