Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.

Why Emberly Chimney Cleaners Is Las Vegas’s Preferred Fireplace Services Company
Most Las Vegas homes built during the 1990s and 2000s housing boom have factory-built, zero-clearance fireplaces sitting inside stucco-framed chases, not traditional brick masonry chimneys. That changes everything about how a fireplace should be inspected and maintained here, and it’s why our techs in Las Vegas spend far more time pulling pack rat nests and replacing UV-cracked chase covers than scraping creosote.
We’ve been running camera-scan inspections as standard since 2009. That means when we look at your fireplace, you see what we see: footage of the firebox, the flue liner, the damper, and the cap. Clause 4 of the Haven Standard requires a documented photo record on every job. Not an optional add-on. If something needs repair, you get a written scope and a written price before anyone picks up a tool. If a competitor’s estimate looks lower, bring it in. We’ll give you a free second opinion on any written quote.
Corrine Halstead leads our Las Vegas operations. Every tech is background-checked and uniformed. Our office answers the phone with a live person, 24/7. You’ll know who’s coming, when they’ll be there, and what it costs before the appointment.
Our Fireplace Services in Las Vegas

Here’s what we handle most often across Las Vegas neighborhoods, from The Lakes to Anthem.
Gas Fireplace Service
Gas fireplaces in Las Vegas sit dormant for eight to ten months of desert heat, then get asked to perform at full output the week after Thanksgiving. What we find most often: dust-clogged burner ports, failing thermocouples, and pilot assemblies fouled by fine Mojave silt that pushed through degraded gaskets. A typical gas fireplace service in Las Vegas runs $129-$229, depending on the unit’s age and manufacturer. If you smell gas or the flame burns lazy and yellow, don’t run it. Call us first.

Wood Burning Fireplace
Even in newer Las Vegas tract homes, wood-burning fireplaces accumulate creosote fast during the short heating season because they’re used intermittently and often with unseasoned wood. Third-degree creosote can form after only a few fires if the flue was already dirty. But before we even think about creosote, we’re checking for what’s living in the flue. Desert woodrats in Summerlin and Henderson routinely pack unused flues with cactus debris, cholla spines, and dry brush during the long off-season. A wood fireplace inspection and cleaning in Las Vegas runs $169-$279.

Fireplace Insert
Many Las Vegas homeowners convert open wood fireplaces to sealed gas or wood inserts for efficiency and to keep dust out. Inserts require precise clearance measurements because they’re installed inside factory-built metal fireboxes with proprietary manufacturer specs. A used insert installed wrong can overheat the chase. That’s a fire risk you won’t see until it’s too late. Insert installation and service in Las Vegas starts around $450 and goes up depending on the unit, venting, and any liner work required. We use materials from Olympia Chimney and Copperfield, procured through Haven’s buying network to keep pricing honest.

Damper Repair
A damper that won’t fully close is how you get dust, pack rats, and cold drafts all summer. A damper that won’t open is how you get smoke rolling into the living room. In Las Vegas, the bigger issue is usually the metal chase cover and cap above the damper. UV radiation out here is intense enough to crack metal chase covers and gaskets in under a decade. A damper or cap repair in Las Vegas runs $180-$350 for most factory-built units. We stock common replacement caps and chase covers locally, so most repairs don’t need a second trip.

Firebox Repair and Conversion
Cracked firebox panels in a prefab unit are a different animal than a cracked masonry firebox. The panel boards are proprietary, matched to the manufacturer, and if they fail, the fireplace should not be used until they’re replaced. We also handle fireplace conversions from wood to gas in Las Vegas, which is popular for homeowners who want heat without the ash and dust the Mojave wind pushes through every gap. Conversion costs in Las Vegas typically run $2,800-$5,500, depending on whether a gas line is already plumbed to the firebox.

AfterTrusted Brands We Service in Las Vegas
We work on factory-built fireplaces and inserts from every major manufacturer you’ll find in Las Vegas tract homes: Heatilator, Heat & Glo, Majestic, Superior, Napoleon, and many others. For replacement components, we source from Gelco, Famco, and Copperfield, and keep the most common Las Vegas parts in our local stock, so we’re not waiting on a freight shipment when your chase cover fails in November. You’ll know the exact part, the exact brand, and the exact price before we install it.
Common Fireplace Problems We See in Las Vegas Homes

- UV-cracked chase covers. Las Vegas gets some of the most intense UV radiation in the continental US. Metal chase covers and cap gaskets crack and fail faster here than almost anywhere else, letting Mojave dust and rainwater into the flue and firebox. We replace more chase covers in Summerlin and Green Valley than anywhere we work.
- Pack rat nests in the flue. Desert woodrats, endemic to the Mojave, build elaborate nests in unused flues during the long off-season. Last November, our crew pulled a full pack rat nest packed with cholla spines and dry brush from the flue of a Summerlin home off Town Center Drive before we could even inspect the factory-built firebox. This is a Las Vegas-specific problem that surprises homeowners every year.
- Dust and silt in the gas valve and burner ports. Frequent dust storms push fine desert silt through even small gaps around chase covers. When you turn on a gas fireplace for the first time in November and it smells like burning dust or the flame sputters, that’s silt packed into the burner. It needs professional cleaning, not just a vacuum from the front.
- Hidden creosote in “maintenance-free” prefab units. Homeowners assume a newer factory-built fireplace needs no annual inspection. The firebox is sealed. The chase is stucco. What could go wrong? A lot. Wood-burning prefab units still build creosote, and because the Las Vegas burn season is short, routine maintenance gets skipped. Third-degree creosote in a prefab flue is a chimney fire waiting to happen.

FAQs - Fireplace Services in Las Vegas

Every year, even if you never light it. The Las Vegas climate degrades fireplace components whether you use them or not. UV radiation cracks chase covers, dust storms pack silt into flues, and desert woodrats build nests in unused chimneys during the months your fireplace sits idle. An annual inspection catches these problems before you smell smoke or hear scratching. Call (980) 580-8641 to schedule.

Most likely, it’s a desert woodrat. These rodents are endemic to the Mojave and routinely climb stucco chases, enter through cracked caps or gaps, and build nests inside flues. The scratching is the animal moving material around. If you hear it, don’t light the fireplace. We’ll remove the nest, clean the flue, and inspect the chase for damage. Call us at (980) 580-8641.

That dust and powder is fine Mojave silt that entered through a UV-cracked chase cover or degraded gaskets during the months the fireplace sat unused. The silt settles into the burner ports and the gas valve, and when you light the unit, it burns off with a smell and a puff of powder. It can also clog the burner and interfere with ignition. We clean the burner assembly, inspect the gaskets, and replace the chase cover if needed. Call (980) 580-8641 for a service visit.

You can, but we don’t recommend it. The cap and chase cover are part of a larger system, and a cracked cap usually means the gaskets and flashing are also compromised from UV exposure. If the replacement isn’t properly sealed and secured to the manufacturer’s specs, you’ll still get dust, rain, and rodents getting in. Climbing onto a Las Vegas roof in summer to work on a chimney also carries real risk. This is one to leave to a trained professional. We’ll give you a written price before any work starts. Call (980) 580-8641.

Because Las Vegas’s UV radiation and dust storms age fireplace components faster than the calendar suggests. A ten-year-old chase cover out here can look like a twenty-year-old cover in most other markets. A Level 2 inspection puts a camera down the flue and shows you exactly what’s happening inside that stucco chase: cracks, silt buildup, animal activity, panel condition. You get photos and a written report. It’s the same standard Corrine Halstead has required on every job since 2009. Call (980) 580-8641 to book one.
If your fireplace hasn’t been inspected since last winter, or if you’ve never had a camera down the flue, now is the time. We serve all of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, and Henderson. Written price before work starts. Photo record when we’re done. 365-Day Done Right Promise. Call (980) 580-8641 for a free estimate.
